63 SUFFOLK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CORRECTION OFFICER RECRUITS SWORN IN 


(YAPHANK, NY) The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office held a swearing in ceremony for 63 new Correction Officer Recruits on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Yaphank Correctional Facility. These new Correction Officer Recruits will begin a rigorous seventeen week  training program that includes instruction in direct supervision, de-escalation techniques, report writing, defensive tactics, firearms, and much more. The recruits will graduate this summer, joining a force consisting of more than 840 Suffolk County Correction Officers.  

The 63 recruits in this Correction Officer Recruit Class are comprised of 45 males and 18 females. Seven recruits have prior law enforcement experience including with the NYPD and NYSDOC.  

Sheriff Toulon welcomed these new Correction Officers to the Sheriff’s Office, reminding them that they “now hold a position of authority in Suffolk County, and with that authority comes great responsibility.”
