35 SUFFOLK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CORRECTION OFFICER RECRUITS SWORN IN

 

(YAPHANK, NY) The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office held a swearing in ceremony for 63 new Correction Officer Recruits on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Yaphank Correctional Facility. These new Correction Officer Recruits will begin a rigorous fifteen week training program that includes instruction in direct supervision, de-escalation techniques, report writing, defensive tactics, firearms, and much more. The recruits will graduate this summer, joining a force consisting of more than 840 Suffolk County Correction Officers. 

 

The 35 recruits in this Correction Officer Recruit Class are comprised of 29 males and 6 females. Six recruits have military or prior law enforcement experience including with the NYPD.

 

Sheriff Toulon welcomed these new Correction Officers to the Sheriff’s Office, reminding them that they “now hold a position of authority in Suffolk County, and with that authority comes great responsibility.”
