SUFFOLK SHERIFF HOLDS GRADUATION FOR CENTRAL ISLIP HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

(Central Islip, NY) On Tuesday, April 21 Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. hosted a graduation ceremony for the Student Ambassador Program at Central Islip High School.  Twenty-four students participated in the 8-week program at the school, discussing public safety-related topics directly with law enforcement.  This is the fifth year Central Islip High School has participated in the program.  Additionally, during the event, one participant of the program received a $650 scholarship from Suffolk Credit Union.

The Sheriff’s Student Ambassador program is held bi-weekly in various school districts, and the Sheriff and officers meet with a small group of students to facilitate an open dialogue with law enforcement and get a candid understanding on issues affecting young people.  During the program, the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office staff presented on topics relevant to youth in Suffolk County, including cyber bullying, social media safety, vaping and drugs.
