Suffolk Deputy Sheriff's Make Leandra's Law Arrest

(Riverhead, NY) On September 14th, 2019, at approximately 11:24 AM Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs arrested Daniel Styles, 49, of Mastic, NY, for driving while intoxicated. He was pulled over on Sunrise Highway near exit 50 and failed a field sobriety test. Mr. Styles was subsequently arrested for violating the Child Passenger Protection Act, or “Leandra’s Law,” when it was discovered that he was driving while intoxicated with his 8 year old son in the back seat. The two were driving home from the son’s early morning soccer game.

This arrest was one of three DWI arrests made over the weekend. On September 15th, 2019, at approximately 7:19 PM Deputies arrested Ricardo Ramos-Cedillos, 40, of Brentwood, NY, for driving while intoxicated on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Islip. He failed a field sobriety test and his BAC was determined to be 0.19%. Later that same night, Deputies arrested Lisa Morgan-Nesbitt, 44, of Central Islip, NY, for driving while intoxicated. She also failed a field sobriety test and her BAC was determined to be 0.14%. The legal limit for driving while intoxicated is 0.08% BAC.
