Arrest: DWI- Leandra's Law

11/17/19: At approximately 12:30 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Anthony Salmiery, 54, of East Patchogue for driving while intoxicated (DWI) with a child 15 years old or less in the car (Leandra’s Law). Mr. Salmiery was observed on Nicolls Rd. in Islip, NY, where he did not stop for a red light and failed to signal a lane change. The defendant demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating he was intoxicated. A 15 year old child was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Mr. Salmiery was arrested and transported to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Station 17 for processing. He submitted to a chemical blood test. Mr. Salmiery was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and vehicle and traffic infractions.
