Arrest: Driving Without an Interlock Device

10/22/19: At approximately 6:49 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Matthew Eckart, 37, of Westhampton Beach, NY, as he attempted to enter the Riverhead Correctional Facility parking lot for the purpose of visiting an inmate. Upon a computer check of DMV records with confirmation from the SCSO Communications Bureau, it was revealed that the Mr. Eckart’s driver's license was restricted with an Ignition Interlock Device requirement due to a previous DWI conviction. However, the defendant was operating the vehicle without said ignition interlock device installed. Mr. Eckart was arrested for circumventing a court ordered interlock device. He was transported to Sheriffs Headquarters for processing.
