Arrest: Driving While Intoxicated/ Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance

9/28/19: At approximately 2:57 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Devaunte Maynes, 25, of Bellport, NY, for driving while intoxicated (DWI) on Route 454 in Holbrook, NY. Mr. Maynes was blocking traffic while sleeping in the driver’s seat within the left turn lane throughout cycles of a green turn arrow signal. The defendant demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating he was intoxicated. He subsequently submitted to a chemical breath test resulting in a .10% BAC. Mr. Maynes was also operating his vehicle while knowing that his license was suspended or revoked 12 times. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance, namely alprazolam, and a plastic baggie of marijuana. Mr. Maynes was arrested for driving while intoxicated, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th, unlawful possession of marijuana, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
