Arrest: Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI)

10/26/19: At approximately 1:55 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Ana Navarro-Mozo, 20, of Brentwood, NY, for driving while ability impaired (DWAI) on Sunrise Hwy. in Brookhaven. Ms. Navarro-Mozo was pulled over for driving 80 MPH when the posted speed limit was 55 MPH. She was also changing lanes around slower traffic in an unsafe manner. The defendant demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating she was impaired by cannabis and was unsafe to operate a motor vehicle safely. She was also found to be in the possession of a jar of marijuana and 5 concentrated THC oil vape cartridges. Ms Navarro-Mozo was arrested for driving while ability impaired (drugs) and transported to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Station 17. She submitted to a chemical breath and blood test. In addition to driving while ability impaired, Ms. Navarro-Mozo was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
