Arrest: Driving While Ability Impaired/ Possession of PCP
11/13/19: At approximately 10:06 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Gordon James, 44, of Elizabeth, NJ, for driving while ability impaired (DWAI) on the Long Island Expressway in Islip. Mr. Gordon was pulled over for driving without headlights or taillights illuminated. The defendant demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating he was impaired and was unsafe to operate a motor vehicle safely. Mr. Gordon was arrested and transported to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Station 17 in Yaphank, NY. He was asked to submit to a chemical blood test and he refused. He was also found to be in possession of PCP. In addition to driving while ability impaired, Mr. Gordon was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
